Training is Going Well!

by on June 7, 2012
I’m riding 5 days a week, working out with a personal trainer 3 times a week, and riding a century at least once a month but for the next 3 months, I need to push myself harder and that means riding with stronger riders. To that end, I had a terrific training ride this morning with Hammerhead Gary Zentmeyer as we rode to Mt. Wilson. It’s a 19 mile climb with 4599 ft of elevation and it took me 2:23 to get to the top and 3:14 to get home. What pleased me the most is that I did the entire climb in a 39 – 27 gear. What’s impressive about that for me is that I never had to go down to the 30 ring in the front. Gary, by the way, does that climb in 2 hours but he slowed down today to push me.
